Alfani graduated from the Law Faculty of Hasanuddin University (Makassar) in 2000 and obtained her Master degree from the University of Melbourne’s Law School. She has been working as a legal consultant since 2001 and has been assisting as well as working with Prof. DR. Hasjim Djalal, M.A., a senior diplomat and former Ambassador of Indonesia to Germany and Canada.

During her career Alfani has dealt with issues around the application of the law of the sea, including pollution at sea caused by a foreign vessel. One of the highlights in her career is providing legal assistance to the Ambassador of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in releasing a North Korean vessel which was held in Indonesian waters.
