Haswandy is a Supreme Court certified advocate and mediator who has been practising law for 20 years. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Bosowa University Makassar and began his career at the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Makassar under the auspices of the LBH Indonesia Foundation with his last position as Director for the period 2016 – 2020 and also as an Advisory Board and mentor at the Makassar Branch of the Indonesian Advocates Association Legal Aid Centre.

Haswandy has handled various types of legal cases, both litigation and non-litigation, including land and housing disputes, consumer disputes, environmental and various criminal cases including corruption. He is also experienced in advocating various criminal law policies, one of which is by initiating and encouraging the birth of a criminal case settlement policy through a restorative justice approach in Makassar City as regulated in Makassar Mayor Regulation Number 91 of 2023 concerning Supporting Services for the Implementation of Restorative Justice in the Region.
